dc.description.abstract A survey was conducted among residents of Singapore to assess their knowledge, attitude and practices towards plastic reduction efforts of the government. There are numerous programs and policies being implemented to address the issue on plastic waste, even more on general waste in Singapore but significant members of the public seem to lack awareness on everything that’s being implemented and not, how are these programs and policies being implemented and what should be done to comply and engage with them, though their willingness to take part in all these are unquestionable based on a previous study. Some of the government’s efforts are palpable in the community such as the Mandatory Packaging Reporting (MPR) agreement with the packaged products producers which is the key for the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for managing end-of-life packaging by the packaging products producers themselves, and reducing the use of disposable carrier bags from all major supermarkets island wide wherein disposable carrier bags are chargeable to consumers, while other programs are not widely known, but whether the effects of all these efforts are significant remain uncertain.
