Abstract
The Dwins Restaurant was established in the year 2003. This is owned and managed by Mr. Edgar Romero. The restaurant serves various foods and drinks and provides services for birthday and christening celebrations. Since automation is beneficial for this kind of business, the project Information System is designed to cater to all the needs of Dwins Restaurant in managing the records for inventory, sales, and expenses. The primary operation performed by the project is focused on the monitoring of inventories, tracking usage of items, computing sales, and preparation of reports. There are various inventories that are being monitored in the stock room of the restaurant. These are beverages, consignment items, and mixtures. The designed project is capable of displaying the remaining count of items and the total cost of items automatically every time withdrawing, adding, rejecting, or removing items from stock room is done. It also shows when and where items are used. The project computes and sums up the amount of sold items as reflected in sales invoice. The staff needs to prepare a summary report on sold beverages and dishes, consumed mixtures, and expenses made. The designed is capable of making such report. The primary problem that was identified through interviews and observation of the present manual system is the manual processing of records for inventory, sales, and expenses. This problem will be addressed and solved by this project. In coming up with this project, the initial step that was undertaken was the examination of data flow and the relationship of every record to identify parent and child records. The second step was the examination of appropriate technology to be used for solving the problems. The third step was the construction and error-correction of the information system. And the final step was the implementation and maintenance of the information system.
