Abstract
The development of web-based Student Registration and Academic Records Management Information System for Marinduque State College a.k.a. SRARMIS aims to provide solutions to the problems associated with the existing manual system. Specifically, this software project aims to 1) design and implement a web-based system and centralized repository of students records that will allow access and sharing of consistently the same, accurate, and up-to-date information by concerned offices, faculty and students; 2) create the system to facilitate transaction processing functions such as: a) registration and requirements submission; b) evaluation of student academic standing (year level and classification); c) subject load advising; d) assessment of fees; e) payment; f) grade management; and g) generation of needed forms and reports; 3) evaluate the performance and acceptability of the system; and 4) provide a user’s manual. Descriptive research was used to narratively describe how the different processes in the existing and developed system take place. Likewise, to aid analysis and design, processes were graphically presented by dataflow diagrams (DFDs) and hierarchical charts. Entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) were drawn to present the database structure. The Input-Process-Output model served as framework for this study while incorporating the phases of project life cycle from concept, development, implementation, and closeout and the traditional model for Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) which are completely complimentary to each other for information systems development projects. The FURPS model of software evaluation was used to determine the acceptability of the developed system and it was rated Very Acceptable.
