Online Materials Management System of Philippine Science High School-Southern Mindanao Campus

Abstract

The Online Materials Management System was developed for the Philippine Science High School – Southern Mindanao Campus in order to upgrade the current spreadsheet-based system of the school’s Property and Supply Office in performing requisition and inventory transactions. This system was created using PHP as the main scripting/programming language while MySQL and Apache were used for database and web server applications, respectively. Specifically, this project aimed to eliminate the inherent problems of the current system, which are repetition of work, slow transaction processing and the time-consuming tasks in retrieving, monitoring and updating all types of inventory-related records. To test the functionality of the system, software evaluation forms were given to 12 respondents during the testing phase. The results showed that the respondents agree that the Online Materials Management System was more efficient than the original system because it made transactions faster and was able to generate reports as accurate as the current system. With this online system, the Property and Supply Officer and the entire PSHS-SMC community would greatly benefit as a whole.
