Abstract
This study was conducted to assess technology transfer in OPSI and determine its level of effectiveness in information sharing and re-use of sugarcane production techniques among the participants in Negros. Specifically, it sought to: (1) Find out the participants’ socio-demographic characteristics; (2) Find out the participants’ skills and practices in sugarcane production before and after OPSI; (3) Determine the relationship among the participants’ socio-Levels of information sharing, and re-use were not significantly related, thus were not dependent on each other. On one hand, OPSI effectively facilitated information sharing and re-use among the participants. With the chi-square test, respondents’ various skills and practices in sugarcane farming were significantly related to level of information re-use that could be associated with their high dependence on OPSI and its very high effectiveness in facilitating information sharing. Essentially, the results proved that scientific information is the most trusted and effective resource to transfer technology to stakeholders like those in this study. Thus, conduct of the same research study is recommended to participants from other parts of the country for comparison and applicability of results. Questionnaire should be improving and simplified. Level of Decision-making level could also be included. Moreover, OPSI should design a more comprehensive Training Needs Analysis for the participants so as to provide their actual needs during the actual conduct of the training. Such would help facilitate screening of participants.
