Abstract

AgriLib was developed for the Department of Agriculture (DA) primarily to augment the manual processes involved in providing library services to its clients. It also aimed to provide researchers with online access to relevant information in agriculture and fisheries. Among its features are: electronic search tool for bibliographic records of DA’s library collections (copyrighted books), online book reservation and loan and download tool for digitized DA publications.

The Da Library as the project proponent is within the functional and organizational structure of the DA-Information Technology Center for Agriculture and Fisheries (DA-ITCAF) per Rule 41.7 of the National Information Network of the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act (RA 8435 of 1997), in order to provide optimized access to information via the Internet and advanced telecommunication technology.
