Abstract
Information fragmentation is a prevalent problem in many organizations. This fragmentation causes problems such as maintaining multiple copies of documents that can lead to inconsistencies of information. This problem also occurs in a government organization like the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center that tasked to establish and manage a central database of all PPP projects. Information about the projects are kept in different forms and kept in different media across different groups within the Center, making it hard to easily produce a complete list of PPP projects.
The Unified Digitization and Reporting System for the Development and Monitoring of PPP Projects tend to be the Center’s initial “building blocks” of a central repository of projects information. The system has two main modules that capture the integral information during development and implementation phases of the projects. With these modules, the Center’s employees can easily search project-related documents and generate reports. The system will help improve the quality and consistency of information across the organization.
The working prototype of the system was developed through Rapid Application Development framework. This framework has better organization of program codes and easier to re-use with pre-built tools already tested. It also allows customizing the program based on the business logical process. The system also utilized PHP, Javascript, Ajax, and XHTML/CSS web technology tools.
