Abstract
Many businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), are still facing challenges in terms of accurately documenting business operation and transaction. In this age of information technology, SMEs could benefit from a wide range of software to improve management and even profitability of their businesses.
This project looked at the effectivity of using a blog portal system as documentation and monitoring tool for an SME. It took the case of Taysan & Quezon City (TQ) Sari-Sari Inc., formerly known as Eutiquio E. Guerra Sole Proprietorship. The use of information technology (IT), such as in advertising commercial spaces and setting up of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, have helped the company meets its financial obligations and security needs. The proponent still has other ideas in mind as to how IT could be used to help the business, thus an information management blog portal system was proposed as a resolution to host TQ Sari-Sari’s IT-related activities, concepts, and ideas.
The project’s objective was to put up an initial in-house development of a platform that will document TQ Sari-Sari’s exploration on how to make IT part of the solutions that will make the business more profitable and manageable. An initial survey was provided to assess the website visitors’ perception of the blog portal system of TQ Sari-Sari.
The system development life cycles process used as agile methodology with the proponent as the Lead Developer of the project, collaborating with a Project Manager who kept track of this project’s status and timeline, a User Experience Developer who helped with the project’s design security, and a Quality Assurance Specialist together with other TQ Sari-Sari Inc. owners who checked if the project’s specifications have all been met.
