At present, Northern Luzon Adventist College Library personnel are using pen, paper and logbook in recording information from circulation, inventory and other day-to-day transactions. Some books are not cataloged making it hard for library users to locate the books they need. This is because the library is not equipped with IT resources.
The main objective of “Library Information System with Geographical Feature” is to fill the gap between the goal of the institution to have a library equipped with IT resources and its present condition by replacing most library functions done by hand with a fully automated information system. A Barcode scanning device is used for the initial implementation of the system to facilitate faster processing of inventory and library transactions. It allows the students to search the catalog for available books and displays the geographical location and status of the book in the library. It also produces reports like catalog cards, inventory, circulation, and library log reports.
