Abstract
The knowledge that can be gained from this study will help educators understand the environment that affect the academic performance of children and their overall personality. It also dares to bring attention to the fact that there is a strong need for more intensive supplementary education outside of a school system. This is to satisfy the academic needs especially of those who are considered underachiever, with learning disabilities or intellectually challenged. The main objective of this study is to determine the variables within this particular Tutee in a one-to-one home-based tutorial non-formal mode of education and in his environments that promote or inhibit his good academic performance and positive personality. Case study method is used with a multi-dimensional research design for the Quantitative part specifically to incorporate the elements of different research designs (i. e., quasi-experimental research, survey research, and participant observation). The hypothesis: The Input Tutorial Program and Exercises, after this particular Tutee underwent the Internalization Processes, improved his Academic Performance is AFFIRMED correct to all subjects for ATSCSG (partial – School Test only) and ATSCSG (School Tests, Recitations, Assignments, Projects). The chances of passing the subjects at a weight of 70 percent for the final grade represented by ATCRG increased. In conclusion, out of six subjects with complete data approximately transmuted, three showed that the Intensive Tutoring Exercise (ITEs) IMPROVED the scores in the First Grading Period Exams (FGPEs). Failing remarks in ITE did show a failing mark in FGPE for Language, but not in FGPE for Filipino and Science. A Passing mark in ITE for Hekasi did not assure a passing mark in its FGPE. Qualitative results showed that the home-based Tutorial Program and Exercises which tries to integrate the home-school-community-virtual environments HELPED to produce in the Tutee a Positive Personality. His misdemeanors were corrected such that for a time being, he became well-behaved both in the tutorials and in his school classes. In conclusion, even if the tutorial instructions and exercise are adaptive to the school lessons in both contents and format, they may not appear effective in increasing the academic grades of the Tutee in the periodical exam/s if the personal, social, cultural, emotional, and psychological aspects of his person are not addressed properly. The Researcher-Tutor recommends that the Tutee must continue with his Tutorial Programs and Exercises, focusing more on the following subjects: Hekasi, Filipino, Reading, Language and Science. He should read more materials in Filipino and be allowed to use the play station and computer for gaming during summer vacation only. Watching adults shows like Wrestling and war games should be minimized. It is advisable that changes in the curriculum be made such that academic load would be lighter but very comprehensive and integrative. Extra-curricular activities should also be minimized so as not to impede with study schedules. Early signs of aggressive behavior, attitude, and expressions should be corrected to curb any homicidal/suicidal tendencies.
