| dc.description.abstract | This qualitative autoethnographic study explores the communication dynamics between Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and government and non-government bodies through a personal lens. Drawing on the author’s own experiences as a long-time OFW and integrating self-reflective narrative with qualitative data, the study examines the nature of communication engagement that this diaspora have with the government of the Philippines and that of the country where they are deployed for work, as well as with non-government bodies. The research highlights the complexities and challenges faced by OFWs as they navigate through their daily communicative interactions, whether for personal or professional reasons. By weaving anecdotes from personal memory that allow self-reflection and then researching the self in relation to others, the study provides an in-depth understanding of the multifaceted nature of these engagements. The findings emphasize the need for improvements in communicating with the OFW diaspora through various platforms with a more responsive service delivery. This autoethnographic approach offers unique insights into the lived experiences of OFWs and provides practical recommendations for policymakers and service providers aiming to refine communication strategies and enhance support for this significant demographic. | |
